Dr. Desiree Rowe, assistant professor of speech, along with her Summer II SSPH 201 public speaking class volunteered their time at the annual Summer Youth Institute’s Career Day on July 29 at Spartanburg City Hall. Dr. Rowe created a workshop where the high school students learned the importance of public speaking along with outlining and writing a brief speech. Students in SSPH201 assisted with coaching delivery and organization of the speeches. The fourteen high school students who participated were able to perform their speeches in a relaxed environment where they picked up valuable public speaking tips!
