“Clean With The Dean” Has Hundreds Of USC Upstate Students Doing Community Service On September 25

Spartanburg, S.C. – Hundreds of first-year University of South Carolina Upstate students will participate in a community service project entitled “Clean With The Dean” on Saturday, September 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

“Clean With The Dean” allows the students to complete their required community service hours at a structured time and date, while interacting with the dean of students, department heads and faculty members from each academic area outside of a classroom setting. Pre- and post-service discussions by student leaders and academic professionals will be led to aid in student reflection and learning.

Participants will gather on the USC Upstate campus from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. for pre-service meetings and breakout sessions. From 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. they will be on-site at various non-profits performing community service projects. The following agencies are participating in “Clean With The Dean:”  Children’s Advocacy Center, Children’s Shelter (3 sites), Christmas in Action (3 sites), Clifton Cemetery, Fuller Center for Housing, Habitat for Humanity, Miracle Hill Ministries, Piedmont Blood Center, SAFE Home/Rape Crisis, The Haven, and United Way of the Piedmont.
