Gubernatorial Candidates Plan Visits to USC Upstate Campus

Spartanburg, S.C. –  Gubernatorial candidate Vincent Sheheen will visit the University of South Carolina Upstate campus on Thursday, September 30 His visit is sponsored by Dr Jennifer Parker, Spartanburg Women for Sheheen and the USC Upstate College Democrats.

Sheheen will make public remarks from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. on the Lower Quad. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the lobby of the Humanities and Performing Arts Center.

“This is an excellent opportunity for our students to hear a candidate’s remarks on education in South Carolina,” said Dr. Jennifer S. Parker, associate professor of psychology and assistant dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Parker is working with the USC Upstate College Democrats organization and Kappa Alpha Psi to plan a voter registration and student rally starting at 9:00 a.m. on September 30.

The USC Upstate College Republicans are sponsoring a visit by Gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley to the campus on Wednesday, October 20 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Haley will briefly visit a classroom and then give public remarks on the Lower Quad.
