Harris Attends Meeting of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History

Dr. Carmen Harris, associate professor of history, read the paper “Living at Home: Rural Afro-South Carolinians and the Quest for Economic and Social Justice” at the 95th annual meeting of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, in Raleigh, NC on September 30. The paper focused on how rural blacks in the early twentieth century were able to build a foundation for political liberty through increased economic autonomy.
