"Give Them Wings" Educational Seminar

The Spartanburg Day School invites the community to attend the “Give Them Wings” Conference on October 16 with registration starting at 8:00 a.m. Michael Thompson, a well-known psychologist specializing in the education and parenting of children who has written extensively, will be the guest speaker. Dr. Thompson has appeared on The Today Show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, 20/20, and Sixty Minutes. He is a noted psychologist and consultant in working with children and families.
     Dr. Thompson will present four  “stand alone” talks: Raising Responsible Children and Social Lives of Children from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., and Beyond Fear in the Parent/Teacher Relationship and The Pressured Child from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.  The general public is invited to attend any one – or all four – of these talks.  They are free of charge.  Lunch will be available on site for $10 and will run from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. Contact Scott Votey at (864) 582-7539, ext. 2204 or scott.votey@sdsgriffin.org to register.      Project partners include The P.A.C.E. Center, Children’s Advocacy Center, Spartanburg Day School, REACH Upstate, Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, Upstate Family Resource Center. Funding for this event is provided through a grant from the Spartanburg County Foundation and Clemson Compassion Project.
