January 24, 2011 at 3:59 pm

Faculty access the program by using the following link: http://webapp.uscupstate.edu/eip/

This link is also available in the USC Upstate online A-Z directory under Early Intervention or on the Academic Support Center website (look for the link for faculty).  Use your USC Upstate username and password to log in for access to your class roster.

Please report students who:
1)    Have never attended class but are currently listed on your roll (check VIP for updated class roll)
2)    Have attended before but have been absent for an extended period of time
3)    Have sporadic but excessive absences

If students continue to be absent, faculty are encouraged to report them each week the absence report is available (open until March 18).  Frequent contacts might persuade them to follow-up.  This Extended/Excessive Absence Report, is  available for ALL COURSES (100 level – graduate courses). The Academic Support center will pull the names each Friday and contact these students.

The Academic Support Center uses the Early Intervention Program as a tool to intercede with students that may be heading toward academic distress. It is a simple two –part process.  The first part of the program is the Extended/Excessive Absence Report open to all faculty.  The second part of the program, the Unsatisfactory Progress Report will be available in February for faculty teaching  100 and 200 level courses only.

More detailed instructions are available when you login to the link above.  If you have questions,  please contact Susannah Waldrop, Academic Support Center Director,  at swaldrop@uscupstate.edu or ext. 5414.
