Tesh Appointed Education Director For The South Carolina Health Information Management Association

Spartanburg, S.C. – Carol Tesh, instructor of informatics at University of South Carolina Upstate, has been appointed the Education Director for the South Carolina Health Information Management Association (SCHIMA). The mission of SCHIMA is to educate our membership, other health care professionals, and the community on health information requirements, to promote high standards of health record maintenance and technology, and to ensure the quality and confidentiality of health information.   

SCHIMA is a non-profit trade association serving nearly 1,200 professionals working in HIM, health care administration, education and information technology specialties in the Southeastern United States.  SCHIMA is the official American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Component State Association for the state of South Carolina.(www.ahima.org). The USC Upstate Bachelor of Arts in Information Management & Systems/Health Information Management program was accredited in March 2010 by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).  CAHIIM is under the umbrella of AHIMA.
