The community is invited to a concert by the Spartanburg Philharmonic Orchestra and Spartanburg Festival Chorus on Saturday, September 10 at 7:00 p.m., Twichell Auditorium, Converse College.

This concert will serve as a remembrance of those who perished in the evil attack on 9-11 and also will serve to honor our first responders.  The program will include the world premier of a song cycle composed in 2007 called “Falling Man” with orchestra, chorus and a guest baritone soloist from the NY Met Opera.  The composer will be present and will speak briefly.  The remainder of the program will be uplifting and patriotic music orchestral and choral music.

A choir of 20 local first responders has been assembled. They will be in their uniforms and will sing two hymns with the chorus and orchestra toward the end of the concert.  A group of first responders and family members will be seated at the front of the auditorium and will be recognized.  This will be an awesome ending to a great concert, one you won’t want to miss.  Rev. Kirk H. Neely will begin the evening with words and a period of silent remembrance.
