Michel Chikwanine “From Child Soldier to Child Advocate: The Journey to Hope”

Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Michel was kidnapped and forced to be a child soldier. At the age of 11, he fled his country as a refugee, and today serves as a humanitarian and inspiring motivational speaker. Some of his accomplishments include serving as a speaker on Oprah’s O Ambassadors Roots of Action speaking tour.  The Spartan Speaker Lecture Series (S3) was created to contribute to the intellectual development of USC Upstate students through the presentation of interesting and relevant information on a variety of scholastic and community oriented interests. Sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs, S3 Lectures are FREE for USC Upstate students, faculty, and staff.
