Sept. 11 Candlelight Vigil in Arboretum Amphitheatre

September 8, 2011 at 1:57 pm

To commemorate the tenth anniversary of 9-11 and provide an opportunity for reflection, the office of Student Affairs and the department of Languages, Literature, and Composition have organized a candle-light vigil, which will incorporate an inter-faith discussion.  It will be held on Sunday, at the amphitheater in the Susan Jacobs Arboretum, from 8 to 9 p.m.  Speakers from B’nai Temple of Israel, Morningside Baptist Church, Islamic Society of Greenville, and the Interfaith Forum of Greenville will speak to the potential of better relationships between different faith-based communities in the Upstate area. This event is open to the public. Please help spread the word to students and anyone else who may be interested. We hope this will be a time to remember, reflect, and also look hopefully toward the future.  If you have any questions, please contact:  Dr. Monika Shehi, Director of Composition, at mshehi@uscupstate.edu or 864-503-5972.
