USC Upstate Holds Freshman Convocation

The University of South Carolina Upstate will host its annual Freshman Convocation on Wednesday, September 7 at 10:00 a.m. in the Hodge Arena. Dr. Thomas Moore, the new chancellor at USC Upstate, will be joined by more than 200 faculty dressed in full academic regalia, to welcome the 815 freshman students.

“This is an important milestone for our newest students marking the beginning of their college career,” said Moore. “And, there is no better location to start their educational career where students will matriculate in four years both beginning and ending on the USC Upstate‘s Quadrangle overlooking the beautiful Rose Terrace.”

The keynote speaker will be sociologist and award-winning lecturer Dr. Bertice Berry, is one of the most sought after lecturers in the country. Berry combines her skills as a sociologist and researcher with her ability to make her audiences think and laugh. She is the bestselling author of the inspirational memoir I’m On My Way, But Your Foot Is On My Head. Additionally, she has written four novels and two humor books.
