Nu Iota Chapter of Alpha Mu Gamma National Collegiate Foreign Language Honor Society inducts new student members

On Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 6:00 pm in Campus Life Center 319, the Nu Iota Chapter of Alpha Mu Gamma National Collegiate Foreign Language Honor Society inducted new student members.  The fall ceremony marked the 80th anniversary of the honor society, founded by five members of the foreign language faculty of Los Angeles City College.  The primary purpose of Alpha Mu Gamma is the honoring of students for outstanding achievement early in their college foreign language studies. However, students may be admitted at any stage of their college careers. 

Inductees include:  Matthew Burt, Tyler Evans, Taniya Mathew, Gladys Patino, Philipp Soppa, Lismarie Trujillo-Pérez.  The guest speaker was Dr. Monika Shehi, assistant professor of English and director of English composition. Nu Iota President, Hakeem King; Vice-President, Jocelyn Kuh; Secretary, Jimmy Interiano;  Advisor, Dr. June C. D. Carter.
