As part of the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Unity Week Celebration, the Human Relations Commission and the City of Spartanburg invite you to participate in an evening of deliberative dialogue concerning race relations. The movie “Hurricane,” starring Denzel Washington, will be the catalyst for discussion. A diverse group consisting of community leaders, college students and residents will be among the participants. Dr. Peter Caster from USC Upstate will facilitate the discussion.

The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday, January 13 at The Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) located at 350 Howard Street. Directions are available here. A light dinner will be served first, followed by the movie and dialogue.

If you are interested in participating, please RSVP to Kathy Hill at khill@cityofspartanburg.org by Monday, Jan. 9, 2012. Seating is limited to the first 75 participants. You may contact the Community Services Department at (864) 596-2052 if you have any questions.
