Mark Pruett (Business) has authored a chapter titled “Entrepreneurship Education: Workshops and Entrepreneurial Intentions” published in Volume 87, Issue 2, 2012 of the Journal of Education for Business. The article studies the impact of a multi-year series of community workshops on new entrepreneurs.

Workshop paper:  Using data collected from participants in an entrepreneurship education workshop series, this study examines the series’ impact and tests a model of entrepreneurial intentions incorporating social and psychological factors.  We find: 1) exposure to role models and the strength of family support do not significantly influence intentions; 2) entrepreneurial disposition and workshop participation significantly influence intentions and; 3) in contrast to previous research, there is no significant difference between men and women regarding interest in entrepreneurship. We also report on participants’ perceptions of program effectiveness and the status of their ventures.
