The Thursday Afternoon Acting Group (TAAG) at the University of South Carolina Upstate will meet on Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Studio Theatre at USC Upstate during the spring semester. TAAG is an after school theatre program for children ages eight to 18.

The semester will end with a spring play. The students will perform the version of Tom Sawyer that is written by Sara Spencer on May 4 and 5. All chief adventures of Tom and his friends will be brought to the stage, including the famous white washing, the school room episodes, the graveyard experience, the Pirate adventures on Jackson’s Island, the return to their own funeral at the village church, the trial of Muff Potter, the finding and losing of treasure, the getting lost in MacDougall’s cave, and the village rejoicing at their rescue.

“This will be a fun participatory play with a cast of 20,” said Rich Robinson, associate professor of theatre at the University of South Carolina Upstate. “The children will have the opportunity to play more than one role, further enhancing their theatre experience at USC Upstate.”
