Around The World In One Night!

March 19, 2012 at 12:30 pm

You won’t have to go around the world in 80 days to experience a variety of cultures, rhythms and sounds because the world is coming to International Fest on Wednesday, March 21, from 6-9 p.m. at the University of South Carolina Upstate.

Open to the public, this event brings the Our World Festival group and their mission of “motivating people with the rhythms of life” to the Campus Life Center Ballroom for “Our Musical Journey Around the World.”

Nearly 50 performers will bring musical and dance demonstrations from various cultures across the globe and combine each with interactive rhythm events. From the sounds of West African drums and dances to the cadenced performances of Middle Eastern dancers and notes from beats of Caribbean percussion instruments to the pulsing tempos of South American samba and Zumba, this year’s International Fest promises to not only entertain but inspire and motivate, as well.

Organizers and Our World Festival “encourage everyone to be a part as we explore the sounds found around us and motivate each other with the rhythms of life!”

This event is sponsored by USC Upstate’s Division of Student Affairs, the International Club, and the Department of Languages, Literature and Composition. For more information, contact Shannon Polchow at 864-503-5654 or spolchow@uscupstate.edu.
