Authors@Upstate Welcomes Poet Claire Bateman, April 5

The Authors @ Upstate Visiting Writers Series welcomes poet and Greenville resident Claire Bateman to the University of South Carolina Upstate campus Thursday, April 5 at 4 p.m. in the JM Smith Boardroom in the Health Education Complex. Her reading is free and open to the public and books will be available for purchase.

Claire Bateman’s poetry collections include Coronology (Etruscan, 2010); The Bicycle Slow Race (Wesleyan, 1991); Friction (Eighth Mountain, 1998); At the Funeral of the Ether (Ninety-Six Press, 1998); Clumsy (New Issues Poetry & Prose, 2003); and Leap (New Issues, 2005). Bateman won the Louisiana Literature Poetry Prize, and received the New Millennium Poetry Prize as well as grants and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Tennessee Arts Commission, and the Surdna Foundation. She additionally was awarded a Robert Frost Fellowship, a Writing Teacher Portfolio Award from Scholastic Arts, and a Pushcart Prize.
