Stacey Lannert “Redemption: A Story of Sisterhood, Survival, and Finding Freedom Behind Bars

In 2009, Lannert was released from prison after serving 18 years for murdering her father, a man who sexually abused her for most of her childhood. She has appeared on numerous programs, including the Oprah Winfrey Show, Nancy Grace, and 20/20, sharing her message of hope, forgiveness, and how to identify and help victims of sexual abuse. Her autobiography, Redemption: A Memoir of Sisterhood, Survival and Finding Freedom Behind Bars, was released in March 2011.

The Spartan Speaker Lecture Series (S3) was created to contribute to the intellectual development of USC Upstate students through the presentation of interesting and relevant information on a variety of scholastic and community oriented interests. Sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs, S3 Lectures are free for USC Upstate students, faculty, and staff.
