USC Upstate – Rotary World Peace Symposium- Sept. 21

The USC Upstate – Rotary World Peace Symposium will be held Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 from 1-4 p.m., in the Olin B. Sansbury Jr., Campus Life Center on USC Upstate’s main campus in Spartanburg. The Symposium is being held on the annual United Nations International Day of Peace.  Keynote speakers are:

  • Rachel Rafferty, Rotary Peace Fellow from Northern Ireland, who is a member of Class X at the Duke/UNC Rotary Peace Center. Rafferty will discuss “Culture of Conflict in Northern Ireland.”
  • Kozue Araki, Rotary Peace Fellow from Japan, who is also a member of Class X at the Duke/UNC Rotary Peace Center. Araki will discuss “Cultural Dialogue in Middle East/Japan.”

The Symposium will also feature a USC Upstate International Student Panel, Peace Essay/poster contest award presentations, an International Student reception (all invited), the unveiling of the Peace Pole at Upstate Rotary Peace Park, and a dedication of trees in the Upstate Rotary Peace Park by 2012 donors.
