Writing Center Workshop today

The USC Upstate Writing Center is holding a workshop today to help students with MLA and APA formatting. The workshop will be held Monday, Sept. 24 from 3:30-4:30 p.m., in Admin 116 on the main campus in Spartanburg, and will be broadcast live to USC Upstate’s campus at the University Center in Greenville (room 117).

Appropriate paraphrasing, quoting techniques and basic citation models as outlined by the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Modern Language Association (MLA) will be discussed. The workshop will help students develop their own styles and voices when writing research papers by offering practice in integrating reliable source material.

The Writing Center will also hold a workshop on Monday, October 1 to help students with the writing process. The workshop will be held from 3:30-4:30 p.m., in Admin 116 on the main campus, and will be broadcast live to the University Center in Greenville (room 117). Pre-writing techniques, outlining, and revision strategies will be covered. Strategies for long paper assembly and review, such as eliminating unrelated material, developing ideas, and maintaining personal voice will be discussed.
