The theatre program at the University of South Carolina Upstate is pleased to welcome back an alumna who will direct a play that will be performed this week in the Performing Arts Center Studio Theatre by the Shoestring Players.
“Sub Rosa,” directed by Ahsha M. Daniels (‘12) and written by Tiffany Marler, a former theatre student, will be performed on October 25-27 at 8 p.m. and October 28 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $2 each.
In “Sub Rosa,” a family is forced to return home after their mother attempts suicide for the second time. The siblings are now confined to the walls of their childhood home which reminds them of the hatred, dark secrets, and horrific memories that are the roots that bind them together. Experience their family while they acknowledge what is “under the rose.”
The cast list includes Stephanie Ibbotson as Rose; Leah James as Magnolia “Maggie;” Channin Pettit as Violet “Vi;” Thomas Perkins as Beau; Alastair Mann as Dr Reid; and Megan Pridemore as Mama “Mary.”
The production crew includes Alexis Jeter as stage manager; Townsend Reynolds as assistant stage manager; Jake Sagado as set designer; Tyler Keef as lighting designer; Zoe Sneed as sound board operator; Taylor Smith as lighting board operator; Jake Salgado, Zoe Sneed and Jordyn Chelf on Set Construction; and Ryan Barry and DeAsia Rudder on the crew.
