The University of South Carolina Upstate’s Thursday Afternoon Acting Group is pleased to present two performances of “Clarissa’s Closet” on Friday, November 30 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, December 1 at 11 a.m. The performances will be held in the Studio Theatre located in the Humanities and Performing Arts Center on the campus of USC Upstate. Tickets are $3 per person and may be reserved by calling (864) 503-5621.
“Clarissa’s Closet” is a story about a girl who writes stories about pirates and Robin Hood’s Merry Men as she gets ready for the arrival of her grandmother. Her parents and little brother are constantly trying to get her to clean her room. As she cleans, she makes up stories in which all the characters come to life from her messy closet.
The cast includes 24 children from local schools including Spartanburg Christian Academy, Dorman High School, Dawkins Middle School, Oakbrook Preparatory and Woodland Heights Elementary. TAAG, as the children’s acting group is known, rehearses once a week in USC Upstate’s theatre facilities. They are led by Rich Robinson, professor of theatre, and two of the university’s theatre majors. The group is open to children ages eight to 18. At the end of each semester, the group produces a play for their families, friends and community.
To reserve tickets for “Clarissa’s Closet,” or to sign up for the acting group, contact Rich Robinson at (864) 503-5621 or email@example.com.
