Delta Sigma Theta to donate 100 care packages; Asks for help from campus community
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is celebrating the sorority’s 100 years of service during their annual “Founders Week” celebration at USC Upstate. As part of the celebration, they have set a goal to prepare 100 care packages for the Haven, a homeless shelter for families and women in Spartanburg.
This care packaging event will take place on Friday, January 18, 2013 on the CLC patio. Volunteers are invited to stop by the table and to make one package out of the items donated to this event.
Here is how you can get involved: Delta Sigma Theta is requesting that each student organization help them to reach their goal of 100 packages through a $30 monetary or ($30 equivalent) item donation. The Haven requests personal care items for adults and children, clothing, and household items such as:
- Soap/Body Wash
- Lotion/Baby Lotion
- Socks/ Underwear
Demand for donated items has become increasingly high. The list of “little things” we may take for granted continues. Please take into consideration the need that homeless individuals have. There is not a donation too large or small for this cause. One box of Kleenex could make all the difference to one individual in need. Once you purchase individually or as an organization any item listed or not listed, it can be placed in the DST cubicle in Student Life with the name of the donor attached. Requested items should be submitted by Wednesday January 16, 2013 so that we may request any additional items needed.
