The University Writing Center and Media Lab is now open. Hours of operation are MWF 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. and TTh 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. The center offers over thirty hours of tutoring per week. While walk-ins are accepted, students should call 503-5883 or stop by HPAC 136 for an appointment to guarantee they will be able to meet with a tutor. If no tutors are available, the Writing Center staff will be able to guide students to useful resources on the Writing Center website.
Distance Tutoring is available for students who attend classes at the Greenville campus or who take solely online classes. For details on scheduling a distance tutoring session via Skype, please see the instructions on the Writing Center’s website. Please note that this service is not available for students who attend classes at the Spartanburg campus; we encourage these students to schedule face-to-face appointments.
Tutoring sessions are typically geared around one of five stages of the writing process:
• Brainstorming and Planning
• Drafting and Organizing
• Basic Research and Integration of Sources
• Documentation and Format
• Revision and Editing
On making an appointment, students should know what stage of the writing process they would like to work on. In addition, students should bring a copy of their assignment to the tutoring session.
