Laketra Cureton, a junior at the University of South Carolina Upstate, has been awarded a paid ETV Endowment internship and will be working with ETV Upstate this summer.
Cureton received one of only seven internships offered this year and was selected from nearly 100 applicants from colleges and universities across South Carolina.
“It is a highly competitive process,” said William Richardson, ETV Upstate’s regional studio manager. “We are looking forward to working with Laketra and providing enhanced learning opportunities through different projects.”
Cureton will work full-time for 10 weeks on projects ETV Upstate has scheduled for this summer, including developing Web features as assigned for the station’s website. This will require more focused training in field camera operation, editing and story composition.
The ETV Endowment Internship program for college students has been in existence since 1980. Funded by the ETV Endowment of South Carolina, the internships are available with ETV and ETV Radio each summer.
ETV is the South Carolina’s statewide network of 11 television stations, eight radio stations and a closed-circuit educational telecommunications system in more than 2,000 schools, colleges, businesses and government agencies.
