Dr. Jennifer Parker has been elected to serve as the 2013-2014 president of the South Carolina Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (SCPSAC). Dr. Parker is the associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and a professor of psychology at the University of South Carolina Upstate.  She is the founder and the director of the Center for Child Advocacy Studies at the university.

SCPSAC is a private, non-profit, interdisciplinary society for professionals working in the field of child abuse and neglect.

SCPSAC’s major goal is to promote effective interdisciplinary coordination and practice among the social workers, physicians, psychologists, researchers, attorneys, law enforcement officers, nurses, judges, educators, and many other professionals who respond to child maltreatment.

The South Carolina Professional Society on the Abuse of Children is a regional chapter of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC).  Membership is comprised of individuals or organizations engaged in various aspects of addressing child abuse with abused children, their families, adults abused as children and/or offending individuals. Members include social workers, therapists, lawyers, doctors, researchers, counselors and teachers.
