GardinerGinny-2013

The University of South Carolina Upstate has named Ginny Gardiner director of academic operations for its Greenville Campus, which is housed at the University Center of Greenville. She has 24 years of administrative experience in colleges and universities including project management, program coordination, distance education delivery, management, human resources coordination, marketing and communications, recruiting, strategic enrollment planning, and academic advising. She previously served as the advisor/student services coordinator for the George Dean Johnson, Jr. College of Business and Economics at USC Upstate.

In her new role Gardiner manages and coordinates academic operations for USC Upstate in the University Center of Greenville.  She directs the administrative office in Greenville to deliver student services designed with adult learners in mind.  It is also the first stop for new students planning completion of a four-year degree, whether they’re transitioning from a South Carolina technical college or transferring credits from one or more previous colleges or universities.  She will align her operation with marketing, enrollment and recruitment efforts using strategies that are meaningful to adult transfer students.  To assure optimal delivery of services to new and prospective students, Gardiner will serve as liaison between USC Upstate leadership and University Center leadership.

“In this newly created position Ginny brings direct experience from similar University Center and remote campus settings as well as a background in college admissions,” said Dr. Charley Harrington, senior vice chancellor of academic affairs at USC Upstate.

Prior to joining USC Upstate, Gardiner served in the following capacities: director of admissions at Oregon Institute of Technology, administrative specialist at Lane Community College, interlibrary loan manager at Central Oregon Community College and Oregon State University Cascades, partnership program coordinator at Oregon State University Cascades, and executive assistant/program coordinator at Central Oregon University Center.

USC Upstate is among the fastest growing universities in South Carolina – with a 330-acre campus in Spartanburg, a senior level commuter-campus at the University Center of Greenville, and the George Dean Johnson, Jr. College of Business and Economics.

USC Upstate Greenville Campus offers a state-of-the-art teaching and learning center designed to serve the needs of students who want to complete a four-year degree and education certification without leaving the Greenville area. USC Upstate provides degrees for traditional and nontraditional students, including working adults, who wish to enroll full-time or part-time in day or evening classes.
