Men's Basketball: Kent State Holds on to Beat Upstate in Final Seconds

Kent, Ohio – Kent State hit 18 three-pointers and Kris Brewer hit the game-winning free throw with 5.1 seconds to lift the Golden Flashes to a 79-78 victory over USC Upstate Friday evening at the M.A.C. Center in the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament.

USC Upstate trailed by four points with just over a minute remaining when Ty Greene hit his career-high sixth three-pointer of the game to pull the Spartans within a point.  Green finished with 20 points, six assists and two steals.

USC Upstate returns to action Saturday at 5 p.m. when the Spartans battle Western Carolina in their final game of the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament.
