Spartans Head to Ohio for Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament

The USC UpSpartans U 349state men’s basketball team puts the finishing touches on its season-opening six-game road trip this week when the Spartans head north to Kent, Ohio, to take part in the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament hosted by Kent State University.

Upstate opens competition in the event Thursday afternoon at 5 p.m. when the Spartans face Niagara from the M.A.C. Center. It’s the first time that Upstate will have ever faced Niagara and the first time the Spartans have ever played a school from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

The Spartans will continue play Friday night at 7:30 p.m. against tournament host Kent State and conclude their participation Saturday at 5 p.m. against Western Carolina.
