USC Upstate Music Students Perform Free Concerts

USC UpstateThe musical talents of University of South Carolina Upstate students will be showcased with two upcoming performances.

The Upstate Vocal Ensemble and Guitar Ensemble will perform a joint concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19 in the Performing Arts Center.  This performance features contemporary pop music by Adele Adkins, classic rock by Lennon and McCartney, jazz, spirituals and musical settings of poems by Robert Louis Stevenson and Emily Dickinson.

The USC Upstate Commercial Music Combo Concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21 in the Performing Arts Center. This concert features mainstream pop and rock music from the 1970s including songs by Journey, The Eagles, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Electric Light Orchestra and more.

“These concerts are a joy for me to prepare with our dedicated students,” said Dr. Tish Oney, coordinator of commercial music at USC Upstate. “The Upstate Commercial Music program is growing by leaps and bounds—our rapidly increasing enrollment has raised the bar of talent and there is no end in sight. The upcoming concerts will be infused with the spirit of our students’ love for the music they perform.”
