CTE Hosts Power Up Luncheon Jan. 27

The Center for Teaching Excellence invites new faculty, tenure-track faculty and instructors for lunch and 60 minutes of best practices in grant-writing, preparing a teaching portfolio and more.

The “Power Up Lunch” will be held from 12 – 1:30 p.m. Jan. 27 in the Quiet Room of the Campus Life Center Dining Room.

Here’s what’s planned:

  • An interactive discussion, advice and strategies for preparing your P & T files with a focus on the category of Teaching
  • Tips and guidelines for writing successful proposals for the TAPS Grant
  • Best Practices for preparing a teaching portfolio for the Bank of America Excellence in Teaching and Advising Award

USC Upstate is committed to excellence in teaching. Consistent with its mission and vision to be “recognized as a center of superb teaching…”,  excellent teaching is rewarded through the promotion and tenure process, through annual awards such as the Bank of America Excellence in Teaching and Advising Award, and the support for faculty excellence and development through the Teaching and Productive Scholarship (TAPS) Fund.

Chairs of the Promotion and Tenure Committee and the Faculty Excellence Committee, the Dean of Students, recipients of the Excellence in Teaching and Advising Award, and recently tenured and/or promoted faculty will lead this professional development workshop. Handouts will be provided.
