Building an Accessible Future for USC Upstate Workshop Planned for Feb. 21

Want to help make USC Upstate more accessible to all people?

This workshop, to be held from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 21 in the HEC’s J M Smith Board Room, is designed to provide individuals with practical approaches to make their digital documents accessible to all people, including those with disabilities.

Here’s the schedule:

  • 9:00- 9:05 — Welcome – Frieda Davison, Dean of the Library, USC Upstate Chair of the Standing Committee on Access
  • 9:05- 10:00 — Opening Session — Building an Accessible Future.  Led by George Williams and Tina Herzberg
  • Quick Fire Sessions
  • 10:00 – 10:15 — Session 1:  9 Simple Steps to make any Digital Document More Accessible.  Led by: Scott Smith
  • 10:15 – 10:30 — Session 2:  Blackboard as an Accessible Learning Environment.  Led by:  Winona Hatcher

  • 10:30 – 10:45 —  Assistive Technology Devices Demos
  • 10:45 – 11:00 — Session 3:  10 Tips for Making Print Materials More Accessible.   Led by:  George Williams
  • 11-00-11:15 — Session 4:  A User-Friendly Guide to Universal Design for Learning.  Led by: Margaret Camp & Cindy Jennings
  • 11:15 – 12:00  — More Assistive Technology Demos and Wrap Up
