Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women’s golf team will open the spring portion of its schedule at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic played on the Cougar Point and Oak Point courses at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort Sunday-Tuesday.
The Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic is the largest golf tournament in the country with 36 teams playing on two courses. The tournament is hosted by the College of Charleston and will be a 54-hole event with the teams playing 18 holes each day. Upstate is one of four A-Sun schools participating in the tournament along with Florida Gulf Coast, North Florida and Northern Kentucky. Five teams in the field are ranked in the Top 100 in the latest Golfstat rankings, led by No. 28 Kent State and followed by No. 45 College of Charleston, No. 71 Chattanooga, No. 74 Penn State and No. 97 Samford. Jacksonville State joins those five schools in the Golfweek Top 100, coming in at No. 89. Live scoring on Golftstat.com will be available throughout the tournament.
