The USC Upstate softball team will host its third and final tournament of the regular season when it plays host to Furman, Liberty, Western Carolina and Winthrop in the Spartan Classic Friday-Sunday at Cyrill Stadium.

Friday’s games have been pushed back an hour due to the forecast for rain overnight and into the morning. The first game of the tournament, Furman vs. Winthrop, will now start at 2 p.m. with Upstate opening play at 4 p.m. against Western Carolina. Upstate is 17-15 all-time against Furman (1-5), 13-1 during the school’s Division I era. The Spartans are 1-1 against Liberty (2-6), 9-0 against Western Carolina (0-5) and 4-1 against Winthrop (3-6) with all games against those opponents played during Upstate’s Division I era.

Upstate is 10-0 heading into the weekend and is coming off a doubleheader which saw two pieces of program history established. Shellie Robinson cranked her 34th career home run, breaking the Division I era school record, while Anna Miller tossed her third no-hitter in game two of the sweep.
