Coming off a 7-0 week last week and improving to 14-0 to start the season, the USC Upstate softball team earned more votes in both the USA Today/NFCA and ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 polls this week.

Upstate earned 44 votes in this week’s NFCA poll and would be ranked 26th if the poll were expanded beyond the top 25. The Spartans earned 20 votes in the USA Softball poll and would be ranked 27th if the poll was expanded beyond the top 25. Upstate received 18 votes in the NFCA poll and 10 votes in the USA Softball poll last week.

Upstate garnered votes in both polls throughout the season last year and became the first athletic team at Upstate to receive a Top 25 national ranking on the Division I level when it jumped into the USA Today/NFCA poll at No. 24 on April 9.

Upstate is on the road Tuesday playing a non-conference doubleheader at Charleston Southern. The Spartans will open A-Sun play this weekend, hosting Jacksonville at Cyrill Stadium in a three-game series Saturday and Sunday.
