Due to the rain that has hit the Upstate area overnight and throughout the day Tuesday, the softball game between No. 24 Upstate and Furman in Greenville, S.C., has been canceled. With the end of the season nearing, the game will not be made up.
Upstate (39-5) will turn its attention to an important three-game A-Sun series against Kennesaw State Friday and Saturday at Cyrill Stadium. Upstate enters the series in first place with an 18-2 conference record and a 3 ½ game lead on second place Stetson. Kennesaw State (22-22) enters the weekend with an 11-10 league record and in fifth place, 1 ½ games ahead of Florida Gulf Coast in sixth and two games in front of North Florida in seventh. Only six teams earn a spot in the A-Sun Tournament with Upstate having already clinched a spot in the championship last weekend.
