Screening of "FIXED: The Science Fiction of Human Enhancement," April 7

April 7, 2014 at 6:45 am

A  screening of the 2013 documentary “FIXED: The Science/Fiction of Human Enhancement” is planned for 6:30  p.m. April 7 in the JM Smith Boardroom of the Health Education Complex at USC Upstate.

The documentary takes a close look at the drive to be “better than human” through measures such as neural implants, bionic limbs, prenatal screenings, and a myriad of radical technological innovations. The documentary challenges our culture’s definitions of ‘normal’ and ‘disabled’ against a societal backdrop of controversial human enhancement opportunities.

Creator/Director Regan Brashear will attend the screening and offer a question-and-answer session afterwards.

This event is co-sponsored by Disability Services, Multicultural Affairs, the Social Science Club and the ASL Club.
