The Spartanburg Little Theatre will hold auditions for its fall musical Hairspray at 7 p.m. Monday, May 12 and Tuesday, May 13, and again at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 18 at Chapman Cultural Center in Spartanburg.
Please arrive 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork. You may download the audition form from www.SpartanburgLittleTheatre.com to be filled out before arriving.
Prepare at least 16 bars of a musical-theatre style song. Bring sheet music. An accompanist will be provided, and you must sing with accompaniment. You will audition in the order of arrival. Wear comfortable clothes for the dance audition. After your vocal audition, you will be taught a dance combination. Everyone who would like to be in the show is encouraged to participate in the dance audition.
Callbacks are scheduled for Friday, May 23, 2014 and are by invitation only.
Hairspray is a culturally diverse show that requires a large ensemble of actors of all ethnicities. A strong component of the Hairspray story revolves around race in the 1960s, as well as specific body types and ages. The Spartanburg Little Theatre is an Equal Opportunity organization.
Roles are available for teens and adults of all ages. You must be at least a rising 9th grader, for the 2014 – 2015 school year in order to audition for this show. The role of Little Inez is the only exception and is written for an African American actress who must be at least 10 years old on the first day of auditions (born on or before May 12, 2004).
