Spartanburg, S.C. – Haley Gethin‘s unassisted goal in the 26th minute lifted the USC Upstate women’s soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Campbell Sunday night in an exhibition game from County University Stadium.
Gethin gained possession just outside the Campbell box and dribbled her way past a pair of defenders and fired a shot to beat Camel keeper Alexis Connors for the game’s only goal.
“It all started with the defense,” Gethin said. “I wouldn’t have scored if they hadn’t won the ball and passed it forward to put me in a position to make something happen. I thought tonight we played really well and have a lot to build on moving forward.”
