Having ended the non-conference portion of its schedule, the USC Upstate men’s soccer team will turn its attention to A-Sun play when it plays its conference opener at Lipscomb Wednesday night at 8:00 p.m. EDT, 7:00 p.m. CDT in Nashville, Tenn.
Upstate enters the game looking to end a two-game losing streak after dropping a heartbreaker at Wofford and another tough battle against Appalachian State at home last week. The Spartans have a much more potent offensive attack in 2014 than it did a year ago and will look to get off to a good start in A-Sun play. Lipscomb enters the game with a 6-2-0 overall record and is also playing its A-Sun opener Wednesday.
Lipscomb owns a 5-3-0 lead in the all-time series which dates back to 2007, Upstate’s first year playing in the A-Sun. The Spartans claimed a 4-2 win in that game, but dropped the last meeting, a 1-0 decision at County University Soccer Stadium last year. The Bisons also own a narrow lead in goals scored in the series, leading the Spartans, 12-10.
