Students at the University of South Carolina Upstate’s George Dean Johnson, Jr. College of Business and Economics will have the opportunity to connect with local business during the 3rd annual Business Blitz Week, Oct. 13-17.
The week of activities led by faculty and staff at the George will provide students with information about business studies and also to learn about downtown Spartanburg businesses.
Hannah Terpack, student services coordinator for the Johnson College of Business and Economics and event organizer, said the week offers an opportunity for students to feel a sense of community.
“We have been in the George four years, there is an emphasis on Blitz week to instill pride on the major, on the building and on being a student at the university,” Terpack said. “It’s not just enough that we teach them in a classroom, but that we get to know them outside of class and get to know their stories.”
Julie Holt, senior peer leader and member of the Dean’s Advisory Board, shared similar thoughts about connecting students and members of the community.
“Blitz week allows business students to interact with local businesses as well as interact with faculty that they may not have interacted with before”, Holt said. “I love interacting with the students and professors. I have also attended the past two years and had a great time.”
