The USC Upstate men’s soccer team will play host to Jacksonville Saturday night at 7 in a key A-Sun game that will go a long way in determining the teams and seeding for the upcoming A-Sun Tournament. Just as key is the Spartans’ participation in the A-Sun’s Coaches vs. Cancer campaign as Saturday’s game will serve as the Upstate edition in raising awareness and funds in the battle against the deadly disease.
The A-Sun men’s soccer coaches came together as a group in 2011 and agreed that each institution would host a Coaches vs. Cancer game during the season to help fight the many different forms of the disease. Now in its fourth year, the campaign has raised awareness and much needed funds in the battle.
Upstate will acknowledge those in attendance who are cancer survivors, are currently battling cancer, or have someone in their lives who have been impacted by the disease. In addition, a donation table will be setup to accept donations that go directly to help support the battle to end the disease.
Upstate does not charge admission to the soccer games at County University Soccer Stadium. The athletic department and the men’s soccer team encourage all to come out and support this great cause while also watching exciting A-Sun soccer action on the field.
