Following a back-and-forth first half that saw the Spartans take a 38-36 lead into halftime, Upstate used runs of 12-4 and 21-0 during the second half to cruise to a 78-65 victory for its second straight season opening win.

It will be the first of two meetings this season, as the Spartans host the Aggies Dec. 4 inside the Hodge Center. Upstate is a perfect 3-0 all-time against schools from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.

Upstate is also looking to move to 2-0 for this first time since starting 6-0 during the 2005-06 season.
