Chapman Cultural Center will host a holiday ArtMarket Saturday, Dec. 20, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., in the lobby of its theater. Admission is free to buy locally handcrafted arts and crafts from dozens of artists.
“If you’re still Christmas shopping and you don’t want to get caught up in the last-minute madness of mass produced goods, come to our ArtMarket. Everything will be handmade, locally made, and uniquely creative,” project spearhead Melissa Earley said. “In addition to having a great selection of gifts, we will also have some live demonstrations and refreshments. It should make for a very nice and somewhat laid-back shopping experience.” Shoppers can expect the selections to include stained glass, paintings, pottery, jewelry, sculptures, furniture, scarves, and wreaths.
Among the vendors will be chainmaille jeweler Labweorc, Brian Swift Woodworking, photographer Blaine K. Owens, producer of home and body products Blessed Necessities, artisan jeweler Rosemary McLeod, and Orijin Tea.
In addition to shopping at the ArtMarket, patrons can also enjoy the museums and galleries, which are free with the exception of a small admission fee to Spartanburg Science Center.
“If you need a break from the hustle and bustle of the holidays, this will be the perfect opportunity to shop stress-free and then take a little time to enjoy the exhibits in Spartanburg Art Museum, Artists’ Guild of Spartanburg Gallery, Spartanburg Regional History Museum, and the Student Galleries,” Earley said. “Sometimes it’s hard to enjoy shopping during the holidays, but this will be one of those times when shopping is a pleasure.”
