Winston-Salem, N.C. – Alexis Jacobs collected her second top-10 performance of the weekend on Saturday to lead the USC Upstate track and field team during the final day of competition at the Hilton Garden Invitational inside the JDL Fast Track.
For the second straight day, Jacobs turned in the top individual performance for the Spartans as she broke her own school record in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 13.86-meters, good enough for a 3rd place finish. The senior previously held the school record in the event set at last season’s Hilton Garden Invitational.
Brenicke Johnson began the morning session by running a time of 7.73 in the semifinals of the 60-meter dash to finish 6th and qualify for the finals. In the finals, Johnson ran nearly an identical pace as the semifinals and placed 6th with a time of 7.75.
Courtney Bradley registered a personal-best time in the 200-meter dash unseeded after running a 26.71, surpassing her previous time by .12 seconds. Heaven Briggs also finished 7th in the 200-meter dash seeded after her time of 26.33.
Patrick Jamison logged the top showing for the Upstate men as he ran a 23.39 in the 200-meter dash to finish in 28th place.
The Spartans return to Johnson City, Tenn. next weekend (Feb. 6-7) for the Buccaneer Track & Field Invitational hosted by East Tennessee State.
