The USC Upstate track and field team will make the short trip to Clemson this weekend as it is set to participate in the Bob Pollock Classic inside the Clemson Indoor Track & Field Complex.
Upstate recorded a total of 10 personal-bests last weekend during the ETSU Track & Field Invitational in Johnson City, Tenn., its first indoor meet since the first week of December. The women logged nine personal-best marks while the men tallied four during the two-day meet. Meagan Bailey, KeAndrea Ladson and Blake Hayes each set two new personal-bests in their respective events.
Draneisha Griffin began the weekend by breaking the school record in the triple jump with a 10th-place finish and followed the next day by placing 6th in the long jump seeded. Her 6th-place finish was the best among the Spartan women last weekend while Brittany Walls added a 7th-place performance in the high jump.
Martin Morrow and Griffin Eubanks led the Upstate men as both turned in top-5 performances in the 5000-meter run. Morrow led the Spartans with a 4th-place finish in the 5000-meter run unseeded and Eubanks picked up his second straight top-5 finish of the season after placing 5th in the 5000-meter run.
The Bob Pollock Classic is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning with the 60-meter dash of the men’s heptathlon and will conclude at 7:30 p.m. with the men’s 4×400-meter relay. The women’s shot put starts the day of events on Saturday at 10 a.m. and goes until 3 p.m. with the top 8 of the men’s 4×400-meter relay.
Upstate returns to Winston-Salem, N.C. next weekend (Jan. 30-31) for the Hilton Garden Invitational at the JDL Fast Track.
