The USC Upstate men’s golf program has made great strides in elevating its status in Division I golf. That improvement will be put to the test when the Spartans open the season at the Sea Best Seafood Invitational Feb. 2-3 on the Valley Course at the TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
Upstate is one of 15 teams competing in the Sea Best Seafood Invitational. The tournament is hosted by Jacksonville and features a star-studded field. Nine of the 15 teams are ranked in the Top 100 in the national in the latest Golfstat rankings. In addition to Jacksonville (No. 87), Upstate (No. 143) will compete against third-ranked Florida State along with North Carolina (15), North Florida (28), UNLV (30), Winthrop (31), Florida (51), Texas A&M (52), Tennessee (74), Jacksonville State (103), McNeese State (107), Old Dominion (119), Coastal Carolina (134) and Liberty (142). The tournament is a 54-hole event with 36 holes played on Monday and 18 holes played on Tuesday.
