The University of South Carolina Upstate will celebrate AmeriCorps members — former and current — and their service in communities throughout the nation.
AmeriCorps Week 2015 will take place from Monday, March 23 to Wednesday, March 25.
Events will include:
- Green Zone Training will be held from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 – 3 p.m. Monday, March 23 in the Sansbury Campus Life Center, Room, 319. This is an opportunity for faculty, staff and students to receive training about issues potentially facing student veterans, presented by the AmeriCorps and the Office of Training and Staff Development.
- Lunch and Learn: What is Gentrification? This event will be held from 12 – 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 24 in the Cafeteria Quiet Room. The discussion will focus on gentrification, or the different facets of urban renewal, and the effects it has on society.
- Coffee Chats: Speak to AmeriCorps VISTA during this informal meet and greet at Jazzman’s Café. Sessions will run every hour from 1 – 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 25. This is an opportunity to get more information about becoming an AmeriCorps volunteer.
