The NCAA released its first statistical ranking report of the season and USC Upstate ranks high in several team and individual categories, including Shellie Robinson leading the country in runs per game and Dana Landers standing as the toughest batter to strikeout.
As a team, Upstate ranks second with a .655 slugging percentage and third with 1.79 home runs per game. In all, the Spartans rank in the Top 25 in eight different categories. They are sixth in runs per game, 11th in batting average and doubles per game, 13th in stolen bases per game, 14th in winning percentage and 22nd in on-base percentage.
Individually, several Spartans are ranked among the nation’s top performers. In addition to owning the lead in run per game, Robinson is 39th in home runs per game and triples per game, and 46th in slugging percentage. Cheyenne Griffin is third in the country in slugging percentage, fifth in home runs per game, seventh in RBIs and 17th in total home runs. Karla Beasley is 22nd in slugging percentage, 24th in on-base percentage and 32nd in batting average. Hayley Reinfeld is 19th in runs per game, while Dana Landers has yet to be struck out this season and tops the nation as the toughest to strikeout.
Upstate’s pitchers also find themselves ranked highly in the nation. Lexi Shubert ranks 28th in walks per game and Amanda Storch is 27th in strikeouts per game, 36th in hits allowed per game and 37th in ERA.
