Spartans Face Road Tests at North Florida, Georgia Southern

The USC Upstate women’s tennis team begins a four-match road trip Saturday at 10 a.m. when the Spartans travel to Jacksonville, Fla., to face North Florida from the UNF Tennis Complex.

Upstate closes the weekend Sunday at 10 a.m. when the Spartans visit Statesboro, Ga., to battle Georgia Southern from the Hanner Tennis Complex.

Spartan senior Isabel von Stryk enters the weekend leading Upstate while ranking fifth in the A-Sun with 10 singles victories. Von Stryk is also tops on the team with eight doubles victories playing mostly alongside freshman Nona Ruppert.

Ruppert stands second on the team with seven singles victories and has won three consecutive matches.

North Florida has won 11 of its last 12 matches and is 11-3 overall and 3-0 inside the league. The Ospreys stand in first place in the conference standings and have yet to allow a point in league play.

Georgia Southern boasts a 9-3 overall record and has won six of its last seven matches. The Eagles are also 3-0 in league play and 5-1 at home.
